What we look for
Every club gets the same treatment. Here is exactly what we check, from club face to grip.
What we check on every club
We inspect under consistent lighting, by hand, one club at a time. If something isn't right, it doesn't get listed.
Club Face
Checked for wear patterns, cracks, dents, and groove sharpness. The face tells the story of how a club has been played.
Grooves
Run a fingernail test on every groove. Sharp grooves mean spin and control. Worn grooves get noted honestly in the listing.
Crown & Sole
Inspected for sky marks, bag chatter, scratches, and cosmetic dents. We photograph every imperfection under consistent lighting.
Hosel & Ferrule
Checked for cracks, looseness, and signs of re-shafting. A loose hosel is a safety issue and an automatic rejection.
Shaft Condition
Examined for dents, bends, rust, and label wear. Steel and graphite shafts each have their own failure points.
Shaft Flex & Specs
Verified against manufacturer specs. If a shaft has been swapped, it gets noted. No assumptions, no guessing on flex.
Grip Condition
Grips are checked for wear, hardness, and tackiness. A slick grip affects your game more than most people realize.
Length & Lie
Measured and recorded. If a club has been extended or cut, we note it. If the lie has been bent, we note that too.
Loft Verification
Checked against stock specs. Loft changes over time with heavy use, especially on wedges and irons.
Set Matching
For iron sets, we verify consistent shafts, grips, and swing weights across the set. Mismatched sets get flagged.
Cleaning & Prep
Every club is cleaned before photography. Grooves cleared, faces wiped, and shafts polished.
Final Grade & Photo
After passing all checks, the club gets its grade, description, and photos under consistent lighting.
How a club gets to you
Every club follows the same path. No exceptions, no fast-tracking, no cutting corners.
Intake & Initial Assessment
When a club arrives, whether from a trade-in, a purchase, or a local drop-off, it gets tagged, logged, and queued for inspection. Nothing goes straight to the floor.
12-Point Inspection
Every checkpoint gets run in order. Face, grooves, shaft, grip, hosel, specs. If a club fails on structural integrity, it gets pulled from inventory. We do not sell damaged clubs.
Cleaning & Restoration
Clubs that pass inspection get cleaned thoroughly. Grooves cleared of debris, faces cleaned, shafts wiped, grips assessed. If a grip is too worn, we note it in the listing.
Grading & Photography
The club is assigned one of four grades (Mint, Excellent, Good, or Fair) based on everything found during inspection. Photos are taken under consistent lighting.
Listed & Ready to Ship
The club goes live with its grade, detailed description, and honest photos. When it sells, it gets bubble-wrapped, shaft-tubed, and double-boxed before it leaves.
Words that actually mean something
No vague "excellent condition" listings. Our four grades are clear, consistent, and backed by our 12-point inspection.
Mint
Virtually unplayed. No visible marks under normal lighting. May show minimal bag rash only. As close to new as pre-owned gets.
Near newExcellent
Light play wear only. Face wear consistent with under 20 rounds. Shafts clean. Grooves sharp. Cosmetically very clean.
Light useGood
Normal play wear. Minor scratches, scuffs, or fading. Fully playable with nothing affecting performance. Honest value.
Normal wearFair
Noticeable cosmetic wear. Scratches, dings, possible paint chips. Structurally sound and fully playable. Best value for the money.
